Alternative Medicine Books about new age healing

What is new age healing?

New Age Healing is commonly known as alternative medicine, which broadly describes methods and practices used in place of, or in addition to, conventional medical treatments. The precise scope of alternative medicine is a matter of some debate and depends to a great extent on the definition of "conventional medicine."

The debate on alternative medicine is complicated further by the diversity of treatments that are categorized as "alternative." These include practices that incorporate spiritual, metaphysical, or religious underpinnings; non-European medical traditions; newly developed approaches to healing; and a number of others. Proponents of one class of alternative medicine may reject others.

Detractors from alternative medicine may also define it as "diagnosis, treatment, or therapy which can be provided legally by persons who are not licensed to diagnose and treat illness", although some medical doctor find value using alternative therapies in the practice of "complementary medicine".

Many in the scientific community define alternative medicine as any treatment, the efficacy and safety of which has not been verified through peer-reviewed, controlled studies.

The boundaries of alternative medicine have changed over time as a number of techniques and therapies once considered to be "alternative" have been accepted by mainstream medicine.

My Least Favorite Virtue Deck
"Your guardian angels have messages that can help you heal every area of your life! This set of 44 oracle cards will help you communicate with your angels; and receive angelic answers and guidance about your love life, career, health, family, and more." - Doreen Virtue

Healing with the Angels Oracle Cards was released by Hay House in 1999, the first of several oracle decks created by psychotherapist Doreen Virtue. This 44-card deck features the artwork of various artists, and the artistic styles range from Victorian, to photomontage to pale watercolors. While the borders are colorful and distinctive-no two cards are alike-the images themselves aren't attractive for the most part. In fact, among all the Virtue decks, this one is the least appealing in my opinion.

Archangel Michael is the only angel named with the rest of the cards arranged by theme. Each card features a theme, but you have to look up the meaning in the 48-page booklet. Some of the themes include:

* Blessings
* Listening
* Miracles
* Self-Acceptance
* Power
* Study
* Spiritual Growth
* Trust
* New Love
* Divine Timing
* Music
* Romance
* Children

Interestingly, the companion booklet is one the most thorough of all of the Virtue decks. She covers:

1. Centering
2. Infusing cards with your energy
3. Connecting with the angels
4. Asking questions
5. Laying out cards
6. Interpreting cards
7. Examining the context of the cards in a layout
8. Examining card position
9. Noticing "jumping" cards

Virtue also explains three spreads: Past/Present/Future, Single Card, and the One Year spread. The companion booklet provides the card meanings, arranged alphabetically, as well as specific wisdom associated with the card.

I tried several readings and none of the cards was relevant to my query. For example, I asked about one health issue and received the "Soulmate" card-which is *specifically* about yearning and praying for one's "soulmate". Well, I've been married for 8 years and I am not looking for a soulmate. I already have him! I also did a reading with the Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards and selected a card from the Healing with the Angels Oracle Cards for clarification. Again, irrelevant information.

From my experience, the Healing with the Angels Oracle Cards are the least helpful and least attractive of all of the Virtue decks. However, many have had great success with this deck so perhaps it depends on your preferences.

Amazing, Positive and Encouraging Cards!
I love these cards! A great friend of mine started having me draw from the deck she owns and soon after I purchased one for myself. I have been using them for about a year and have also purchased them as gifts for my mother and other friends.

If ever I come into contact with someone in need of extra encouragement or support, I bring out the cards and have them draw. Without exception, the person walks away encouraged and ready to go forward remembering they are loved and supported by God and the Angels.
What more could you ask for?!

Connecting to the Universe
Whether it is a case of you seeing what you want to see or reading a message from your Angels, this gift is well worth the investment of both time and money.
This is the BEST angel card deck!
I purchased two different decks- The Healing with the Angels deck and the Archangels deck. This one is definately a keeper! You can do better readings with this deck than the Archangels one. I do readings with this deck almost everyday. And it is unbelievable how accurate it is! I was down about moving to a new town and away from some of my friends, who I didn't really feel close to anymore- I picked the Friendship card that day! Wow. The booklet explained the card, saying I would have to be happy being alone until the right friends came along. Amazing!
If You Had ANY Doubt About This Deck....Read My REVIEW!
I pulled this deck out to do a quick one card reading for myself before I did the review, as I always do, and the Listening card fell out (jumped, as Doreen says). I noted it, shuffled and recut the cards and yep, you guessed it, got the Listening card. That card is a validation from the angels that one really is hearing them and in communication with them.

Moments like this happen all the time with this deck. Personally, I love the short verbiage on the card. Then it is your choice to go with your "gut" or read the "little white book" that accompanies the deck.

It is easy to scoff at these decks until you use them. I know.
