Alternative Medicine Books about new age healing

What is new age healing?

New Age Healing is commonly known as alternative medicine, which broadly describes methods and practices used in place of, or in addition to, conventional medical treatments. The precise scope of alternative medicine is a matter of some debate and depends to a great extent on the definition of "conventional medicine."

The debate on alternative medicine is complicated further by the diversity of treatments that are categorized as "alternative." These include practices that incorporate spiritual, metaphysical, or religious underpinnings; non-European medical traditions; newly developed approaches to healing; and a number of others. Proponents of one class of alternative medicine may reject others.

Detractors from alternative medicine may also define it as "diagnosis, treatment, or therapy which can be provided legally by persons who are not licensed to diagnose and treat illness", although some medical doctor find value using alternative therapies in the practice of "complementary medicine".

Many in the scientific community define alternative medicine as any treatment, the efficacy and safety of which has not been verified through peer-reviewed, controlled studies.

The boundaries of alternative medicine have changed over time as a number of techniques and therapies once considered to be "alternative" have been accepted by mainstream medicine.

Reviews:

Cult Nonsense
This book (and the movie of the same name) is nothing more than the blatherings of Ramtha and his/her devotees putting forth the "School of Enlightenment" propaganda. Ramtha is JZ Knight,a 50-something woman who is channelling a 35-thousand year old spirit called Ramtha from an Atlantis type world.

The book and movie are both produced by people connected to the School of Enlightenment, (Yelm, Washington.) So this is nothing more than a major money making scheme by the Ramtha-people. Please research this organization before buying into the nonsense in this book. It is NOT real science, although they are very gifted in making you believe that the mumbo-jumbo they put forward is really quantum physics.

What The Bleep Do We Know?! -Discovering The Endless Possibilities For Altering Your Everyday Reality.
They came in droves worldwide to have their reality shifted by the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?" It made us think about who the "Observer" is, and the effect the Observer has on interpreting reality. It showed us how a particular experience is one of many possible experiences depending on how we choose to interpret it. The movie was a wake up call to remember that "we create our reality" and we need to take responsibility for it.

The What The Bleep book goes one step further down the rabbit hole to help us ask the big questions and gives you plenty to ponder. It also provides easy to understand information on how the brain works and how emotions contribute to the hard wiring of the way we addictively react to life.

The book is a collaboration of love from the makers of the movie. It effortlessly weaves the scientific findings that are presented in the movie in a fashion that allows the reader to really "get it". And goes into greater detail on theories of quantum physics, balanced by beautiful illustrations, and real right brain stimulation.

If you like the movie, you will love the book! It will make you think, make you question and helps awaken you from the Matrix!
Recommended, with Three Important Cautions
I'm in general agreement with most of the glowing reviews here, because this book is terrific for expanding our awareness of possibilities, and I'm greatly in favor of that.

However, there are three important cautions:
1. Regarding contributor John Hagelin, there is no mention of his wacky, anal-retentive writing when he was running for US President, as a true believer in Transcendental Meditation's levitation idea. Did you read any of his lunatic, mad-scientist chatter? It was spooky stuff.
2. Regarding contributor Lynne McTaggart's promotion of homeopathy, there is no mention of James Randi's standing offer of one million dollars to anyone who can show any biological effect of any homeopathic solution.
3. Regarding contributor Joe Dispenza, the chiropractor, the book explains in a complimentary way that he "is a student of Ramtha's School of Enlightenment." And what is this "enlightenment?" Well, "Ramtha" is described as a channeled ancient being who "in his own lifetime, 35,000 years ago, learned to separate his consciousness from his body, raise its frequency and eventually take it with him." . ." 35,000 years ago? "Raise its frequency?" I promise you that there is hardly a credible scientist anywhere in the world who would take either of those two nonsensical ideas seriously. "Ramtha" and Joe Dispenza the chiropractor might as well have claimed to be able to play a medieval Celtic duet using their rectal sphincter muscles.

Enjoy other aspects of this book, but forget about the ludicrous Ramtha baloney.
Great resource to have!
I am really enjoying the book. It explains the movie nicely. It isn't overwhelming text - lots of pictures and extras to supplement the text. Short, easy texts to read. Have it on my coffee table and it gets a lot of reads from my friends!
This book is making the world a better place!
This book ROCKS!! Not only is it brimming with even more mind-opening info than in the "What The Bleep..." movie, but its in a very reader-friendly format. Pretty colors and those adorable animated cells from the movie! :) A definite "must-have" both as a movie companion and as a stand-alone. WONDERFUL!!
