Alternative Medicine Books about new age healing

What is new age healing?

New Age Healing is commonly known as alternative medicine, which broadly describes methods and practices used in place of, or in addition to, conventional medical treatments. The precise scope of alternative medicine is a matter of some debate and depends to a great extent on the definition of "conventional medicine."

The debate on alternative medicine is complicated further by the diversity of treatments that are categorized as "alternative." These include practices that incorporate spiritual, metaphysical, or religious underpinnings; non-European medical traditions; newly developed approaches to healing; and a number of others. Proponents of one class of alternative medicine may reject others.

Detractors from alternative medicine may also define it as "diagnosis, treatment, or therapy which can be provided legally by persons who are not licensed to diagnose and treat illness", although some medical doctor find value using alternative therapies in the practice of "complementary medicine".

Many in the scientific community define alternative medicine as any treatment, the efficacy and safety of which has not been verified through peer-reviewed, controlled studies.

The boundaries of alternative medicine have changed over time as a number of techniques and therapies once considered to be "alternative" have been accepted by mainstream medicine.

You Can Heal Your Life

Louise Hay

Hay House, 1984-01-01

Price: $12.95

If you haven't seen Hay House's Lifestyles series of gorgeous gift books, there is no better way to acquaint yourself than with publisher/author Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. A bestseller for many years, You Can Heal Your Life has been republished with bright, beautiful illustrations in full, living color and exquisite typography--each and every page is a work of art by artist Joan Perrin Falquet. The timeless message of the book is that we are each responsible for our own reality and "dis-ease." Hay believes we make ourselves ill by having thoughts of self-hatred. She includes a directory of ailments and emotional causes for each with a corresponding affirmation to help overcome the illness. For example, the probable cause of multiple sclerosis is "mental hardness, hard-heartedness, iron will, and inflexibility." The healing "thought pattern" would be: "By choosing loving, joyous thoughts, I created a loving joyous world. I am safe and free." --P. Randall Cohan

Shorten your time in therapy sessions
AMAZING! Do the work and you might not need to show up for any therapy sessions at all. Traditional therapists aren't going to know what to do with all the movement you're making and will more than likely accuse you of not delving in and getting to the roots. Bollocks! Do the work, forgive, move on... certainly there will be other things that need your attention as life continues; but this book gives you the tools to recognize and move on. Carolyn Myss might say doing this work could mitigate the need of your 'biography becoming your biology'.

Enjoy the process (though not all at once),
Tiffany
How can you all defend this?
If you have ever been seriously ill and been presented with this book, I am surprised y'all didn't pitch it across the room.

The last thing I needed when wiped out with mono for six months was to learn that my disease was the result of immaturity and selfishness. Thanks. Y'know, I thought it was the result of swapping some tainted saliva, but apparently Louise knows more than I.

This is not to say there are not things once can do to improve one's psychological well being when ill, or that it isn't good to lead a healthy lifestyle. It is extremely insulting however to postulate that serious illness is the result of some emotional wrongdoing on the part of the sufferer. Please, don't purchase this book for a friend who is ill. It's offensive.
Great book
I bought the gift set and it spoke to me right away!! The art in the book is beautiful and pleasing to the eye. I got my money's worth and then some. I've had the books for over a year now and it's been life changing for the better.
A book that reveals more you
This book is not a very easy read. The first time you read it, you think 'What in the world..?'. But deep down inside a particular sentence or concept rings a faint bell and it makes sense. Everything in the book might not apply to you right away. But there is truth in it and you definitely can use it to heal your life. Hay has come up with a unique approach to life and all it has to teach you maps your road to positivity, contentment, health and happiness. I would suggest reading it at least twice over - even randomly if that what works.
You Can Heal Your Life
This book is a book of positive thought and loving tools.
I recommend this book to anyone who is tired of the negativity, pessimism and other things happening that have brought you down.
I changed my life and I have this book to be thankful for as a guide to a better me

Love you all
G
